The Rotaract Club of Apeejay Stya University (ASU), Gurugram recently received a prestigious honour, the Rotary Citation Award from Rotary International. This award recognises the club’s strong commitment and impressive accomplishments in fulfilling Rotary International’s goals. These goals include carrying out sustainable service projects, contributing to the Rotary Foundation, and raising awareness of Rotary in the community.

The Rotary Citation Award is a special recognition given by Rotary International to Rotary clubs that have achieved specific goals and demonstrated excellence in their activities and service projects. It serves as an acknowledgment and encouragement for clubs that are making a significant impact in their communities while embodying the ideals of Rotary.

The award is granted annually, and clubs are evaluated based on their performance during the Rotary year, which runs from July 1 to June 30. Rotary International provides guidelines and criteria for the award, and club presidents submit their achievements and documentation online for review and verification.

Receiving the Rotary Citation Award is not only a recognition of a club’s accomplishments, but also a motivation for clubs to strive for excellence and engage in meaningful service. It highlights Rotary’s dedication to making a positive difference in communities worldwide and encourages clubs to actively contribute to Rotary’s mission of promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, supporting education, and boosting local economies.

The Rotary Citation Award ceremony celebrates the hard work and achievements of clubs throughout the year. The award bestowed upon the Rotaract Club of ASU is a testament to their dedication, perseverance, and remarkable service to society.

While expressing his views, Dr. Vijay Kumar, Associate Professor at the School of Education and Faculty In-charge of the Rotaract Club of ASU, shares, “At ASU, we believe in taking
community-based actions that support addressing its needs and contributing to its prosperity. The Rotary Citation recognises our commitment to community service. Our student volunteers are highly motivated and eager to serve society. They continuously explore different ways to engage in community service.”

Adding further, Rtr Archita Rath, President of the Rotaract Club of ASU, expressed her joy upon receiving this award. She stated, “As I look back on this amazing experience, I feel a deep sense of pride and accomplishment. This recognition is not just about me as a president, but it’s a testament to the hard work and commitment of our entire Rotary club. Together, we have worked tirelessly to make a positive impact on our community and beyond.

She adds, “The Rotary Citation Award represents the change we’ve brought, the lives we’ve touched, and the difference we’ve made in the world. It reminds us of the powerful effects of Rotary’s principles of service, integrity, and fellowship. Receiving this award brings me great joy because it acknowledges the countless hours we’ve spent planning, organising, and executing meaningful projects that address our community’s needs. It shows that our actions align with Rotary International’s vision to create lasting change and improve the world for everyone. Being a president has been both challenging and rewarding. It has allowed me to lead and make a meaningful impact on the community I served. I’ve learned valuable lessons in leadership, collaboration, and decision-making. It has been an honour to work with dedicated individuals and witness the positive change we’ve achieved together. Despite the difficulties, the experience has been incredibly fulfilling, and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve in such an important role. Let’s continue striving for even greater achievements and uphold Rotary’s noble ideals together.”
