In a significant move to enhance education in Chhattisgarh’s Raipur city, Minister of Education, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan, inaugurated 211 Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI).

The event highlighted key aspects of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, with a focus on fostering innovation and holistic learning experiences.

During the inauguration, the Minister emphasised the importance of learning one’s mother tongue for a comprehensive education, aligning with the principles of NEP 2020.

He drew attention to scientific evidence indicating that 85 per cent of human brain growth occurs by the age of eight and proposed the implementation of balvatika in schools to benefit children.

Echoing the slogan, “Innovation is in the DNA of Indian students,” Pradhan underscored the creative thinking and effective learning skills inherent in students.

The introduction of PM SHRI schools is expected to further boost these attributes by providing a conducive environment for students to thrive. He outlined the inclusion of skills, vocational studies, arts, athletics, and other activities aimed at enhancing students’ aptitude and employability.

This comprehensive approach is set to complement traditional academic courses in language, mathematics, science, environmental science, and social science, reinforcing the notion that innovation is indeed embedded in the DNA of Indian students.

The PM SHRI schools, being a part of the centrally sponsored scheme by the Government of India, aspire to establish over 14,500 such schools. These institutes are designed to offer a world-class education with improved facilities and resources, ensuring a conducive learning environment for all students.

Pradhan also shed light on key features of NEP 2020 and revealed that the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) will soon release updated textbooks aligned with the new curriculum.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Members of Parliament, including Sunil Soni, Rajesh Munat, Purandar Mishra, Moti Lal Sahu, and Guru Khushwant Saheb. Notable dignitaries like Secretary of School Education Ministry Sanjay Kumar and Additional Secretary Vipin Kumar were also present, adding significance to the event.

The PM SHRI initiative marks a pivotal step towards transforming the education landscape, fostering innovation, and providing quality learning experiences for students in India.
