Put equal emphasis on online and offline learning: Sonam Wangchuk

Ladakh-based engineer Sonam Wangchuk, who inspired the character of ‘Phunsukh Wangdu’ in  ‘Three Idiots’ believes that for better learning outcomes equal emphasis needs to be given on both online and offline modes of teaching. “If the best lectures on different disciplines are outsourced via the Internet, students will be benefitted. Covid-19 has given us the chance to put equal emphasis on online and offline learning,” Wangchuk, also an environmentalist and social reformer, told a press meet at Science City in Kolkata.

“Once the Covid-19 situation improves, online classes can continue along with offline classes as the two complement each other. We have to build an atmosphere where we can create more educators who can shape the society. We create techies but not teachers. That mindset should change,” Wangchuk said.
