Protecting the Environment-Simple steps one can take

Published

on

Nature has selflessly nurtured us with its motherly love while we humans on the other hand have mercilessly exploited it. We have taken great advantage of it and are not far away from destroying it soon.

The plight of other living beings can also not be simply ignored. Do they not have a right over the environment? What have they done that now even they cannot benefit from nature’s invaluable treasury? It is high time that we human beings realise our mistakes and turn over a new leaf.

Before embarking on a journey to be the environment’s saviour, one should at least know how can they contribute. We can research, read different articles, and join several awareness programmes.

There are some simple steps one can take to protect the environment and do their part. Pollution is one of the major problems we are facing today be it on land, water, or air. The three R’s which stand for Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle respectively, should be followed religiously.

By Reducing and not buying more than we need will put a stop to rising landfills and the destruction of forests for more resources. Reusing different items such as old books notebooks, and clothes in our daily life can save our money as well as our environment.

New products wouldn’t need to be manufactured in factories thereby preventing the release of harmful chemicals in water bodies. The recycling of old scrap and polythene bags will give rise to new products without needing newer resources.

The toxic gases released in the atmosphere every day are solely responsible for many respiratory and pulmonary diseases which makes it even more crucial to put an end to this. Switching to greener and cleaner fuels such as Compressed Natural Gas will release far fewer greenhouse gases and leave behind little residue and ash.

Electric cars and public transport such as metros, buses and trains are another great alternative. Fewer greenhouse gases in the atmosphere would result in an equally proportional decrease in the temperature of the earth and would prevent global warming.

If everyone plants a tree every year on their birthday then the earth can certainly be made greener. Let’s join hands and do everything possible to protect our earth before it’s too late. Together we’ll prevent Mother Earth from becoming a ‘once upon a time.’
