Working as an erudite architect with a private firm, this alumnus, passed out of Apeejay Institute of Technology – School of Architecture & Planning (AIT-SAP) in the year 2011. Over the years, he has cultivated a set of habits, attitudes, and skills that contribute to a positive and effective work environment; to which he credits the perfect academic structure at college. Meet Saurabh Singh.

In a candid interview, he talks about his college days and dreams and goals.

Tell us about yourself.

I am an alumnus of AIT-SAP batch 2011. At present, I am residing in Delhi and am passionate about architecture. I am right now a visiting faculty in the School of Planning and Architecture in Delhi. I am mentoring young minds to create innovative and sustainable designs that not only meet the needs of clients but also contribute positively towards building the environment. With the help of my extensive learning, I am working as a professional architect with PCS Archventure Pvt Ltd. Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, from residential and commercial buildings to urban planning initiatives. I am a goal-oriented and disciplined leader, a fitness enthusiast, a family man, and a proud father of two lovely kids.

What does a typical day look like?

I am an early riser, starting my day at 5 am with high energy levels, gym, and exercising as my daily routine. With focused time aligned for the role of faculty on specific days while scheduled tasks for my projects on other days, I majorly contribute one-third of each day towards the architecture domain. Handling my responsibilities and sharing happy times with my family, I make sure to strategise my advance day plan and aim for a sincere implementation. I eat healthy, prioritise proper sleep and make time for leisure activities and socialising on weekends.

Tell us about your college life.

My college life at Apeejay was very happening, I was popular as ‘Bali’ not only in my batch but also among junior and senior batches. The vibrant experience I had, not only encompasses academic exploration, cultural events, and extracurricular activities, but also the elements of personal development and networking opportunities. Apeejay has blessed me with my lifelong friends – Sudhanshu Mishra, Vishal Gupta, Sonam Malik, and Aastha Aggarwal and all of us are closely connected and growing together sharing many life events.

Share a few nostalgic memories.

I had many memorable experiences at Apeejay to cherish to date. Our late-night group study sessions, looking for a tea shop to be open at 2 am in the night, making dinner at midnight, and then worrying about the submissions, road trips with friends and unforgettable moments of laughter are some of the few moments, but the Holi celebration at Apeejay is one of the unforgettable moment.

How was the faculty?

They were all very fine and selected efficient faculties are only associated with Apeejay, who are qualified and expert professionals. They always strived to motivate us and share the knowledge with varied instructional strategies to engage us. They were approachable in guiding the students, offering support, and encouraging open communication to foster a supportive learning environment.

What are your dreams and goals in life?

My dreams and goals in life revolve around making a positive impact on others while continuously growing and challenging myself. Professionally, I’m passionate about designing and bringing life to my ideas, and my goal is to create an iconic name to be a role model and lead my business successfully vis-a-vis making a meaningful difference to the community. At a personal level, I aspire to live a peaceful and healthy life with my loved ones. I aim to lead a purpose-driven life where I can contribute to the greater good while pursuing my personal and professional fulfilment.

Any message for the students of the college.

Believe in the power of architecture to shape our surroundings and enhance the way we live, work, and interact with our environment. Keep pushing your boundaries and contribute to making a meaningful impact through your work. Stay healthy, make the best of your college life, and keep achieving your dreams.
