Apeejay School, Kharghar, commemorated National Unity Day through a special assembly to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Popularly known as the Iron Man of India, the programme highlighted his contribution to national integration. It also encouraged students to reflect on the values of unity, harmony and patriotism.
The assembly began with a prayer, followed by news and weather reports. The recitation of Sanskrit shlokas added a spiritual dimension to the proceedings and set a reflective tone for the programme.
The highlight was a skit presented by students, which explored the significance of National Unity Day. Through their performances, they conveyed how togetherness, mutual respect, cooperation and collective responsibility contribute to strengthening the nation. The presentation also encouraged students to recognise that national unity is built through everyday actions and an appreciation of one another.
A teacher’s address further elaborated on the theme of ‘Unity in Diversity’. Students were encouraged to respect differences, promote harmony and develop mutual understanding. The address emphasised that India’s cultural diversity is a source of strength and that national integration requires citizens to value their shared identity while respecting different backgrounds and traditions.

The assembly concluded with a message that summed up the occasion: Our diversity is our strength, and our unity is our identity as Indians.
The programme offered students an opportunity to understand the relevance of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s legacy and the importance of preserving the spirit of togetherness. It also reinforced the role of schools in helping young learners develop a sense of civic responsibility and respect for the country’s diverse communities.
Through the special assembly, Apeejay School, Kharghar, encouraged students to carry the message of inclusivity and cooperation beyond the classroom and contribute towards building a peaceful and harmonious society.
