Rakhi Chugh’s daughter Ahana is a student of class 7 at Apeejay School, Faridabad. The mother and homemaker duo emphasises how the school shapes a child’s overall personality, from building their confidence to honing soft skills. In an interview, Chugh shares how the school has impacted her daughter’s growth. Edited excerpts:

What made you opt for Apeejay School, Faridabad?

My elder son Mayan is an alumnus of the school. Ahana, too, joined the school in nursery. My nephew, who is now a General Manager at Ernst & Young, studied at Apeejay Faridabad and that’s how we thought of enrolling our children in this school.

What do you think of the school’s curriculum and overall environment?

The best thing about Apeejay is their focus on the foundational years of learning, till class 5. The modern curriculum does wonders for children in terms of clearing basic concepts without pushing them into rote learning. Not to mention Apeejay’s strong emphasis on extra-curricular activities. Both Mayan and Ahana have developed a lot of confidence. In fact, Ahana has very good public speaking skills. She has won many extempore competitions.

How are the schoolteachers motivating the students?

Teachers put in a lot of effort to shape children’s personalities. Apeejay focuses on a child’s holistic development, and my children and nephew are proof of that. They are confident and have good communication skills. With the support of the teachers, Ahana has been able to manage self-study very well—she has been doing it since class 4—although she has recently joined a coaching class for mathematics. The teachers have regularly shared their valuable feedback with me, which has been very helpful.

Has Ahana ever felt overburdened with the syllabus?

Ahana has not felt burdened with the syllabus on any occasion. She has been doing pretty well. The syllabus is age-appropriate.

Would you recommend the school to other parents?

Some of my acquaintances who are young parents were recently looking for nursery admission for their children. I recommended Apeejay to them. I think nobody has aced primary education better than Apeejay.
