Dr. Sandhya Mishra with her daughters Aditi(L) and Aradhya(R)
Dr. Sadhya Mishra (45), a professor in a B.Ed. college is proud that she makes teachers. Having experience of being a parent and at the same time teaching aspirants to become a teacher, she talks with Apeejay Newsroom about the schooling of her daughters—Aditi and Aradhya at Apeejay International School, Greater Noida.
Why did you choose Apeejay over other schools?
Both my daughters are studying here at Apeejay since their childhood. Aditi studied at a private school after her Rhythms and then we shifted to Greater Noida. The first name of the school that came to my mind was Apeejay only. We filled the form and got the admission done. From my experience, being a parent I am satisfied with the fact that individual student is being looked after.
Tell me something about your child?
We have two daughters– Aditi (13), who is in class IX and Aradhya (10) is in Class VI of Apeejay International School, Greater Noida. Both my daughters are the best. Talking about Aditi, she is a pro-active student. Apart from her academics, she has a keen interest in dancing and drawing. Both the girls participate in almost all the curricular activities and competitions. Aditi has always remained in touch with the teachers and all teachers recognize her. Last year, she also received Dr. Stya Paul award.
Do you think Apeejay is enhancing their talent?
Yes, completely. Teachers here are so good and learned that I don’t need to make extra efforts or arrange private classes to enhance their talents. Aditi has become so perfect in dancing that my friends, relatives and other peer group ask me whether I have enrolled my daughter into a professional dance academy.
As you are a professor at a B.Ed. college, how would you rate the teachers at Apeejay?
They are just amazing. Well-experienced, polite and most importantly they know that each child matters. In the pandemic time too, these teachers managed to take regular classes and activities. I never felt that due to the pandemic my children are suffering in terms of getting quality education. Instead I felt that their skills and other aspects were really enhanced.
Value-based education is the motto of Apeejay. Is it being served?
Indeed. Values are taught at home and at school. I am relieved that both my daughters are getting values from home as well as school. It will help them become a better human being along with great professionals. Overall development is being fulfilled. In many schools, the focus is mainly on the extra-curricular activities, but at Apeejay, both education and extra-curricular activities are balanced.
Do you think along with academics, holistic development is also important?
Ofcourse. I am happy that Apeejay is focusing on the holistic development. When Aradhya was in Class III, she joined a club for a group discussion. I must thank that particular event as it helped her in improving her spoken English and she became very confident in expressing her views.
Your overall experience at Apeejay?
Apeejay is taking care of everything. From superb academics to extra-curricular activities, we are satisfied. Infrastructure is perfect. Recently they have shifted to a new school building which is well-equipped. Talking about the teachers, I feel confident that they are paying proper attention to my daughters. I get complete review in the PTM. We as stakeholders are also happy that our feedback is important to them.
