Apeejay School, Kharghar recently hosted an engaging workshop on mindfulness for its primary students. This special session was led by experienced educators Ms Aarti Sharma and Ms Ruchi Mehta, and aimed to help young learners develop essential mental well-being skills. Recognising the growing importance of mindfulness in enhancing academic performance and social development, the workshop focused on teaching students practical techniques to cultivate focus, emotional resilience, and overall psychological health.

The session was designed with a clear purpose: To equip students with tools to manage stress and regulate their emotions effectively. Mindfulness, a practice that involves being fully present and aware of one’s surroundings, can significantly improve a child’s ability to concentrate and handle challenges. The workshop introduced these concepts through carefully crafted exercises that were both age-appropriate and engaging.

The event featured three key activities: Mindful Breathing Exercises, Focused Listening, and Mindful Movement & Stretching. Each exercise was designed to be interactive, encouraging students to participate actively while absorbing core mindfulness principles. For instance, in the breathing exercises, students learnt to focus on their breath as a way to calm their minds. The focused listening activity helped them sharpen their attention and stay present in the moment, while the movement exercises taught them to connect their mind and body through gentle stretches.

The workshop was well-received by both students and teachers. It provided valuable insights into mindfulness practices that can be easily incorporated into daily routines. The interactive nature of the session kept students engaged and made learning enjoyable. Teachers noted that the exercises helped foster a deeper understanding of mindfulness, offering practical tools that students can use to manage stress, improve focus, and build emotional strength.

Overall, the mindfulness workshop at Apeejay School, Kharghar, was a meaningful and enriching experience. By introducing these techniques early, the school aims to support its students’ mental well-being and equip them with lifelong skills for personal and academic success.
