 Memories of Kerala trip

Published

on

A thousand thoughts and memories shuffled through my brain when I came to know that my best friend had gone to visit Kerala. It reminded me of those days when I along with my family used to roam in the streets of Kerala without wearing masks.

The most interesting, rather unforgettable memory of Kerala was visiting Alappuzha with my family. Alappuzha, famous for its boat races, beaches, ageless temples, a 150-year-old lighthouse, and the coir industry, is a world-renowned backwater tourist destination in India.

The first place we visited was the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, a favourite spot of migratory birds. By luck, we saw a few of them. The next destination was the Ambalapuzha Sri Krishna temple, where Payasam, a sweet pudding made of rice and milk, is served in the temple. It is believed that Lord Guruvayurappan visits the temple daily to accept the offering.

After that, we went on a houseboat trip in the famous backwaters known for its traditional snake boat races, which mark the celebration of the Onam festival. This is where I met an unusual friend, Raman the eagle, and also managed to take a snap with him.

We also saw the place where the famous Nehru Boat Race is held. Last but not least, we visited the Coir Museum featuring exhibits on the history of the coir industry and unique coir-made objects, and Alleppey Beach, which is famous for providing relaxation.

Undoubtedly, visiting Kerala has been one of the most remarkable and cherished trips of my life.
