Sukhman Kaur is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer applications at Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA). This time, she made her college proud by securing first place in the Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) exam in the sixth semester. The student, who scored 2085 out of 2400, tells us how her professors helped her in the journey.

Edited excerpts:

Congratulations on becoming the university topper! How do you feel?

It’s like a dream come true. I have always loved studying, not to get good marks but to grasp more and more knowledge. This spirit in me always helped me to get good marks not only in school but also in university.

What kind of support did you get from the teachers to achieve this?

A renowned personality Mustafa has rightly said, “A good teacher is like a candle–it consumes itself to light the ways for others”. In the same way, my teachers have always been supportive. Even if I have abundant doubts, they patiently help clarify every concept.

What do you have to say about the overall exposure provided by ACFA? How has it benefitted you?

ACFA is one of the best colleges in Punjab. From an academic point of view, this institute ensures that every student gets the best quality of education that will meet international standards. Apart from this, it offers wide exposure to students by conducting various workshops at regular intervals. These workshops helped me a lot to gain practical knowledge about my subjects.

What are your future plans?

I am looking forward to completing my master’s degree in computer applications. Moreover, I am looking for a job to add some practical skills to my CV so that after completing my master’s I have both practical and theoretical knowledge.

Mental well-being is essential, especially during exams. How did you manage your mental health during your university exams?

It is undeniable that exam pressure disturbs our mental health, but it can easily be overcome. Firstly, this pressure arises when we have not studied during the semester for that subject so to avoid this, we should regularly study our subjects so that during exam days we can do a quick revision. Meditation is the second thing that I will recommend for handling stress and protecting our mental health. Thirdly, we can pursue our hobbies to relax our minds.
