Edited excerpts:

What inspired you to become a teacher?

While studying BEd at Kurukshetra University Campus College, I realised my true potential. My teachers guided and inspired me. Moreover, I love to teach children and be around them. I feel teaching is a huge responsibility and a great opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the youth.

What techniques do you use to keep your classes interesting?

I try different techniques like flipped classroom (which focuses on students’ understanding rather than lectures), think-pair-share (a cooperative learning activity), hands-on learning, and project-based learning (for developing problem-solving skills) to make my class interesting and engaging. I recently worked on a unique educational approach ‘STREAM’ that integrates Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.

The digital revolution has impacted classroom teaching as well. Your thoughts?

Digitalisation has definitely impacted classroom teaching. It has brought a revolution in teaching. It has made teaching-learning more effective and impactful. Educational videos, quizzes, and PowerPoint presentations enhance learning experiences.

The job of a teacher is not easy. What keeps you going?

My passion for teaching, my interest in lifelong learning, and my desire to instill good values in my students keep me going.

How does a teacher stay relevant over time?

It is by updating her knowledge and skills. The best part of being associated with Apeejay is that it keeps both students and teachers upgraded. Teachers are given platforms to upgrade their knowledge and skills through regular in-serving training days (INSETs) and workshops by well-informed resource persons.

Is it important for a teacher to keep up with the trends?

Yes, it’s very important to keep up with the trends for continuous development. This keeps a teacher efficient and creative and brings the best learning outcomes for students.
