Minister of State for Science and Technology Dr Jitendra Singh is on a visit to the United Kingdom to enhance the scale of bilateral collaboration in the field of scientific research and development. During the tour, he has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with his British counterpart, UK Science Minister George Freeman.
The programmes covered under the MoU, agree at a ministerial-level Science and Innovation Council meeting, including the establishment of a new UK-India Net Zero Innovation Virtual Centre focusing on industrial decarbonisation and launching the first ever UK-India scientific deep sea voyage.
“There is a lot in common between India and the UK and the year 2023 is a very exciting year for India when we are hosting G20. We look forward to the UK joining the July meeting which is dedicated to science, technology and innovation,” said Dr Singh.
This agreement will also bring in new joint research schemes aiming to deliver progress on some of the biggest issues facing the world, from climate change and pandemic preparedness through AI and Machine Learning.
