She loves modern art.  One look at her paintings and one would be amazed to find that such a clear hand held the brush only two years back. All her art works exhibit not only a panorama of colours but also precision, neatness and a vibrant expression of emotions. Modern art is on her to-do list to learn next as she searches for the inspiration for her upcoming artwork.

In this week’s Aspiring Artist interview, Bhawna speaks about her love for modern art, her other hobbies and how she expresses herself on the canvas. Edited excerpts:

When did you journey into art begin?

It began very recently, not more than a couple of years ago. I am still very new in this field and am happy to learn something new with each art work. But these two years havw been great and I have come a long way since I started.

That’s great to know. So which art form is your favourite?

I like all art forms. It is diffiuclt to pick one since every art form teaches us something new, a new technique or a new perspective to look at the work. But I cherish painting and drawing the most. I feel very secure when pursuing them.

How does AIMETC support you as an artist?

AIMETC has always been a strong pillar of support for me. The faculty encourages me all the time. They help me publish my works in newspapers and websites. I got to know about the Apeejay Newsroom website through my college. I am grateful to them.

Every artist has their own definition of art. What’s yours?

Art is an expression of my feelings. I feel that encapsulates everything. It gives me a platform to pour my emotions on the sheet or canvas.

How much time does it take you to complete an artwork?

I don’t look at the clock when I am drawing. I am totally engrossed into an artwork while preparing it. But I would say, it usually takes me around one to three days or sometimes even a week to finish one project.

Tell us about your upcoming artworks.

I am taking a little break as of now. I recently completed many artworks and am now recharging and refreshing myself. I will start some new projects again as and when I get new ideas and inspirations. So, no new projects as of yet.

One art form you wish to learn.

Modern art has always captivated me. I even tried a little bit of it in one of my works. But I want to learn it completely, rather master this art form. I love the abstractions and portrayal of ideas in modern art. It is so enigmatic.

Do you have hobbies apart from art?

Plenty! I love reading. So, I read different genres but novels are my favourite. I also love to cook. I experiment a lot with trying to learn new dishes.
