Recognising a student’s strengths, both inside and outside the academic environment, plays a vital role in fostering their self-assurance and motivation. Encouragement from teachers, mentors, and peers is essential in motivating students to develop their skills and pursue their interests. Tailored feedback that acknowledges the unique abilities of each student helps nurture their growth. This individualised approach ensures that every student feels valued and inspired to reach their full potential.

Meet two such students – Viraj Arora and Hridya Sharma of Apeejay School, Tanda Road who have cleared their UKG with flying colours and are all set to embark on a new learning phase as they move ahead academically.

Hridya is a curious six-year-old, who has a profound love for learning new things. “I love my school and especially the learning environment and how the teachers here make studying enjoyable,” she said and added that a typical day for her begins with preparing for school, followed by lunch and some rest upon returning home.

“The afternoon is dedicated to homework, after which I either play or spend time with my favourite hobby — drawing and painting. If I have homework my mother helps me in places where I get stuck or something that I don’t understand. She also helps me when I participate in extracurricular activities,” Hridya said.

Reflecting a keen inquisitive mind, she shared that reading is also a part and parcel of her interest leaning towards Science and understanding the workings of daily life. “But when it comes to my favorite cartoon, it has to be Little Singham. This is because the character stands for righteousness and truth. When I watch this cartoon it inspires me to also learn from the lesson it is trying to teach us – a moral lesson in speaking the truth,” she said and added that her parents are her ideals.

“I have learnt many things from them including the importance of hard work and how to work smart. I also respect and love my teachers since I get to learn new and amazing things from them every day. They are also very supportive and love all the kids, especially Pallavi ma’am and Gagan ma’am. Both make learning so much fun and interesting,” Hridya said.

Seconds Viraj and says that he loves going to school. “I treat this school as my second home as the teachers here are loving and caring. I like all the teachers here but Gagan ma’am is my favourite. What I love about going to school is that here I get to perform different activities, Viraj said and added that his favorite book is Chhota Bheem. “I want to be as powerful as he is,” the six-year-old shared.

A typical day for this toddler starts early. “I then wish my grandparents and parents, I get ready and then pray to God, and go to school. I love meeting my friends there and studying with them. During the break, we all play together. Once I am back home, I take a small nap and sit down to study. I complete my work with the help of my mother and sister,” Viraj said in conclusion, whose favourite pastime is painting.
