Earth Day holds a special significance in schools, where it serves as a platform for nurturing
environmental awareness, promoting education, fostering empathy, empowering student
action, and cultivating sustainable practices. Educators, parents, and communities must join hands to instill a sense of responsibility towards the planet.


To instill similar values amongst students, Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park celebrated Earth
Day on April 22, 2024, within the school premises.

The students of class V took centrestage during the assembly presentation, focusing on the theme — Save Earth. The assembly commenced with a solemn school prayer and the traditional prayer song, setting the tone for
the session ahead.

During the presentation, the students shed light on the importance of Earth Day, a global
observance held annually.

They emphasised the significance of this day as a reminder of our collective responsibility to
protect and preserve our home planet. Through their words, they emphasised that it’s not just
about grand gestures, but about every little step we take to safeguard our environment. For the
‘Word of the Day’, students stressed the importance of conserving biodiversity. Transitioning to Earth Day’s theme, Plastic And Planet, they enacted the harmful effects of plastic pollution on living organisms.

Through vivid portrayal, they raised awareness about plastic’s menace, urging sustainable
practices. This concise presentation highlighted the urgency of combating plastic pollution for
the well-being of all life forms on Earth. A mesmerising group dance portrayed the earth’s
agony, leaving a lasting impact. The assembly wrapped up with the Green Crusaders
administering a pledge to protect our planet and its environment.

Such celebrations hold significant importance in schools worldwide. This observance serves as
a poignant reminder of our collective responsibility to protect and preserve the planet for current and future generations.

With the whole class involved, it was a collective effort to nurture responsible citizenship and create a happier, more sustainable world for all.
