Gita Varta at Apeejay School, Saket, connects ancient wisdom with everyday life

The teachings of the Bhagavad Gita are often associated with spirituality, but they also offer lessons on how people think, act, and deal with everyday challenges. Bringing these ideas closer to young learners, Apeejay School, Saket, organised a Gita Varta session for students of Classes VI to VIII.

The session was led by Dr Poonam Ahuja, a media professional, renowned voice artist, and creator of a popular YouTube channel dedicated to spirituality and life lessons. Through her address, she introduced students to the wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita and explained its relevance beyond religious and spiritual understanding.

Understanding ancient teachings through everyday experiences

Dr Ahuja connected the teachings of the Gita with situations that people encounter in their daily lives. From managing stress to understanding relationships and finding a sense of purpose, she discussed how these lessons remain relevant even today.

A key focus of the session was Karma Yoga, which emphasises the importance of performing one’s duties with sincerity, without being overly attached to the results. The discussion also touched upon finding peace amid difficult circumstances, encouraging students to look at challenges with a calmer mind.

What made the session particularly meaningful was the way Dr Ahuja explained these ideas. Her knowledge of the subject, expressive voice, and use of practical examples helped make complex spiritual concepts easier to understand.

Lessons that extend beyond the classroom

The session brought together wisdom, devotion, and motivation, giving students an opportunity to reflect on ideas that are not always part of regular classroom discussions.

For young learners, understanding how their actions, choices, and responses shape their experiences can be a valuable lesson. The Gita Varta session offered students a perspective on handling everyday situations with greater awareness, while introducing them to teachings that continue to hold relevance across generations.
