He has been working as a Senior Manager of Sales-Corporate and Exports at Swayam India for a little over seven years. Before starting his professional journey in 2015, Udit Bhagchandani, not only did his MBA in International Business, he did his MBA in Marketing and Information Technology from Apeejay School of Management (ASM).

After securing a campus placement, he later transitioned to different roles. In a candid interview, Udit reflects on his time at ASM, emphasising how the institute played a pivotal role in fostering his confidence, which he believes is the key driving force in his journey.

I am an extremely outgoing person. I am at present, employed as the Senior Manager and Head of Institutional Sales and Export at Swayam, a prominent home furnishing company. I am also a proud entrepreneur of Radiance Merchandising, namely Buying House. Engaged in global exports, we cater to diverse buyers worldwide, adding vibrancy to homes across the globe.

My lifelong aspiration to become an entrepreneur is what drove me to take the path I am pursuing at present.

Initially, I was uncertain about the industry I wanted to work in, so I took a job in different sectors. This diverse exposure provided me with a plethora of experiences, ideas, and clients. Drawing from this wealth of knowledge, I decided to forge ahead and establish a business in collaboration with two partners.

Handling the same industry makes management relatively smooth and straightforward. Although the products vary in both companies, my clientele and industry remain consistent. This has further allowed me to have seamless navigation and effective management.

Several noteworthy experiences stand out, such as earning the title of Mr Synergy during the Synergy fest and being the first among my friends to secure a job. Beyond these achievements, the time spent with my peers was truly remarkable and memorable.

At ASM, the approach is distinctive – it not only imparts theoretical knowledge but also hones practical skills crucial for placements. The emphasis on building confidence, coupled with a strong foundational base, allows students to interpret concepts effectively.

One assignment that will always be dear to my heart is where we were required us to create, market, and sell a product, following the five Bs of marketing. Executed as a group project, the task involved generating a unique idea, inventing the product, and implementing the plan from scratch. The process of crafting the blueprint was not only rewarding but also offered an enriching experience. The Bs are:

BE Real Your marketplace is crowded with competitors, and your prospects are. …

 Be Pulling vs Pushing.

Be interesting: You must position your business in the mind of your prospective clients as the  Best possible choice for exactly what they need…

Be Fast: In today”s world, the most important.

Reflecting on my past experiences, I have realised that upon entering college, one might not have a clear path to the end goal. It’s not just about reaching the destination, instead, the focus should be on cultivating a strong foundation, building confidence, and nurturing the roots of one’s chosen path.
