A book fair is an exceptional platform for cultivating the habit of reading among students. It serves as a vibrant and captivating event that piques curiosity and engages the minds of young learners. It creates an atmosphere that fosters exploration, imagination, and a deep love for books.

In line with this belief, Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld, Model Town in Jalandhar recently organised a Book Fair and STEM workshop for the students of Pre-Nursery to class 2 within the school premises. The aim of this event was to foster a love for reading among the students. Both parents and children enthusiastically joined this enriching Book Fair. Additionally, an innovative Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) workshop was introduced for the first time in Jalandhar, supporting overall academic growth and nurturing early thinking and reasoning skills among students.

The Book Fair showcased an extensive collection of books, encompassing different genres, authors, and themes. Students had the opportunity to browse through the colourful displays, interact with authors, and participate in various literary activities. This immersive experience sparked excitement and curiosity, transforming reading into a desirable and enjoyable activity for all.

The fair provided an excellent platform for students to expand their literary horizons. They were exposed to a diverse range of books, encouraging them to explore new worlds, ideas, and perspectives. By interacting with authors, students gained valuable insights into the creative process of writing and developed a deeper appreciation for the art of storytelling.

Simultaneously, the STEM workshop offered an innovative and interdisciplinary learning experience. It incorporated material and books related to Augmented Reality (AR), which seamlessly combined computer-generated and real-world environments. The workshop content spanned multiple sensory modalities, including visual, auditory, haptic, somatosensory, and olfactory, creating a truly immersive and engaging educational environment.

The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Malkiat Singh, Principal of Apeejay School, Model Town, along with Mrs. Namrata Sharma, Headmistress of Primary section; Mrs. Nidhi Ghai, Headmistress of Pre-Primary section. The teachers also actively participated in the event, contributing to its success and guiding the students in their exploration of books and the world of STEM.

While expressing her views, Ms Ghai said, “In today’s digital era, children are often more inclined towards mobile phones, tablets, and laptops, rather than reading books. The primary objective of this Book Fair was to instill a genuine interest in reading among young minds. Hence, organising an event where students can explore, purchase, and indulge in books seemed like the perfect initiative. The resounding success of this event has inspired us to make it an annual tradition moving forward, ensuring that students have a dedicated platform to discover and immerse themselves in the world of literature.”

The Apeejay Rhythms Book Fair and STEM workshop created an atmosphere of excitement, exploration, and imagination. The event effectively promoted the habit of reading among students and instilled in them a deep love for books. Through interactive sessions, engaging workshops, and the integration of innovative technologies, the fair and workshop nurtured a passion for learning, critical thinking, and creative expression.

As the event concluded, it was evident that the Book Fair and STEM workshop had left an indelible impact on the young minds of the students. The event served as a reminder of the immense power of books to captivate and nurture the imagination. Furthermore, it showcased the school’s commitment to providing a holistic education that fosters a lifelong love for learning and reading.
