Dr Isha Sood’s association with Apeejay began when she enrolled her daughter Hemanya in Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld, Jalandhar. Later, she moved to Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, and is now studying in upper kindergarten. Dr Sood, a dentist who runs her own centre with her husband and ophthalmologist Dr Swab Sood, highly appreciates the Apeejay’s well-planned, systematic online classes. In an interview, the mother talks about her daughter’s overall progress. Edited excerpts:

What made you choose Apeejay Rhythms followed by Apeejay School Mahavir Marg?

The school was recommended to us by our relatives. The feedback that we mainly liked was that Apeejay works on the overall development of children and not just academics. Nowadays, just being a bookworm does not help. Children need to be nurtured in a way that they grow up to have a good personality. That is why we chose Apeejay.

Do you think Hemanya’s foundational years of learning are on the right track?

Absolutely, we are very satisfied with her progress. I could not imagine a five-year-old speaking so confidently in front of others. The school makes sure that every child is given a chance to participate in various co-curricular activities, which, in turn, boosts their morale a lot.

Is your child learning enough in the online classes?

Apeejay was the first to start seamless, full-fledged online classes in the pandemic. They were very quick to formulate a plan for the same, unlike many other schools. The teachers have been taking the classes regularly and on time. They are very dedicated to their work. I do not think that my daughter missed out on anything despite having moved to the virtual mode. The classes are very good.

How is the school boosting your daughter’s overall development?

Every month, the school organises at least two-three activities, including art and craft, fancy dress events, dance, show and tell, etc. Teachers guide us very well throughout the process of preparing for an activity. In fact, the children also have yoga classes online. The school is making every effort to engage children and boost their overall personalities.

My daughter has been lucky to have very good class teachers. They take a lot of pain and are concerned about every child’s progress. That personal touch makes a lot of difference.

Apeejay focuses on value education. What human values has the school inculcated in your daughter?

Yes, the students are taught good behaviour and good values constantly like sharing and caring, respecting others, and more. The good thing is children obey the teachers at every step, which has helped them learn a lot.

How do teachers support parents?

We used to have parent-teacher meetings every Saturday, prior to online classes. Even now, the teachers are always available. They have shared their personal numbers with the parents and are ready to give their advice or help whenever required.
