The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has recently unveiled the comprehensive curriculum for the academic year 2024-25, which is set to commence on April 1. Highlighting the significance of this release, CBSE emphasised its commitment to providing a robust educational framework spanning Classes 9 to 12.

For Class 10, CBSE has delineated a curriculum comprising five compulsory subjects along with the option for students to choose two elective subjects tailored to their interests and aspirations. Meanwhile, Class 12’s syllabus encompasses a diverse spectrum of seven major learning domains, including languages, humanities, mathematics, sciences, skill subjects, general studies, health, and physical education.

In a progressive move, CBSE has encouraged schools to adopt innovative pedagogical approaches, such as multilingualism, art-integrated education, and experiential learning, to enrich the teaching-learning process. This initiative underscores CBSE’s commitment to nurturing holistic development among students while fostering a dynamic and engaging educational environment.

The curriculum for Classes 9 to 12, replete with academic content, examination syllabi, and assessment guidelines, reflects CBSE’s dedication to maintaining educational standards aligned with contemporary educational paradigms.

Schools are urged to adhere to the prescribed curriculum while incorporating innovative methodologies to enhance learning outcomes effectively.

Furthermore, CBSE has announced the forthcoming release of new syllabi and textbooks for Grades 3 and 6, currently under development by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT).

These resources, once disseminated to schools, will facilitate a seamless transition for students, aligning with the pedagogical principles outlined in the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023.

To support the implementation of these new educational resources, CBSE intends to conduct capacity-building programs for school heads and teachers.

These programs aim to familiarise educators with the evolving teaching-learning perspectives envisioned in the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020, thus empowering them to deliver quality education effectively.

CBSE has assured that, aside from Classes 3 and 6, there will be no alterations to the curriculum and textbooks for the academic year 2024-25.

This commitment underscores CBSE’s dedication to providing stability and continuity in education, while simultaneously embracing progressive pedagogical approaches to meet the evolving needs of learners in the 21st century.
