Students of Apeejay School, Saket, have delivered strong performances in two zonal sports competitions organised by the Directorate of Education. The school’s Senior Boys Chess Team and Junior Boys Badminton Team have both secured places in the semi-finals of the Zone 23 tournament.
Their progress reflects steady preparation, focus, and teamwork. Both teams faced multiple opponents on their way to the semi-final stage and maintained consistency across their matches.
Senior Boys Chess Team moves ahead
The Senior Boys Chess Team played with patience and control throughout the tournament. The players advanced after defeating GBSSS J Block, Saket, Dr Ambedkar Nagar Sector IV, and Amrita Vidyalayam, Pushp Vihar.
Each round tested the team’s ability to think ahead and remain calm under pressure. Chess demands careful planning, quick judgment, and the discipline to stay focused for long periods. The team’s performance showed these qualities clearly.
Reaching the semi-finals is an encouraging step for the players. It also places them closer to the final stage of the zonal competition.

Junior Boys Badminton Team shows strong form
The Junior Boys Badminton Team also earned its place in the semi-finals through a series of well-played matches. The team defeated Qutab Mehrauli Sarvodaya, Saket J Block Senior Secondary School, and Vidya Niketan.
Badminton requires speed, coordination, and quick decision-making. The players had to respond to changing situations during every match. Their progress suggests that they were able to stay composed and work together when it mattered.
The wins have given the team valuable match experience. They have also created fresh confidence as the players prepare for the next round.
The success of both teams has brought a sense of pride to the school. Their journey so far shows how regular practice and a calm approach can shape performance during competitive events.
