Mr. Nitya Nand Mishra is a Manager with the State Bank of India. He is the father of Apeejay School Panchsheel Park, kindergarten student Anwita Mishra. In a wide-ranging interview, he shares his reasons for choosing the school, his child’s progress and his perceptions about the online classes. Edited excerpts:

Why did you choose Apeejay Panchsheel Park over other schools for your child’s admission?

Apeejay Panchsheel Park has a rich legacy. Therefore, we always wanted our child to study here. We did apply to other schools as well but Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, was always the best option. We are happy that Anwita got enrolled in Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park and seeing her progress at the school makes us happier.

Also, we live in East of Kailash, so the school is hardly five kilometers away. So, proximity is also an advantage.

Please tell us about your child and take us through her progress at school?

Anwita loves to play the piano. It is her favourite activity. She is also learning other musical instruments. Her mother is learning the guitar. So, she is inspired by her mother and plays the guitar sometimes. She likes to sing and also draws at times. She loves to travel. Since such a young age, she has been quite an avid traveller. We celebrated her first birthday in Delhi, second birthday at Christchurch in New Zealand and her third birthday in Iceland during our Europe trip.

She is performing well at school. She likes her class teacher Honey Ma’am a lot. All the classes are online but she is doing very well under Honey Ma’am’s guidance. Among subjects, she is most interested in Maths.

What is your feedback on the level of engagement that teachers have with students?

The teachers are teaching very well. Honey Ma’am is a very good teacher. Her teaching methodologies are very creative. So, we are extremely happy that our child is taught by such a capable teacher.

What is the best thing about the school?

Well, the alumni of the school are doing well and are placed in good companies. The huge space of the school, the facilities, the focus on co-curricular activities and all-round development of the child are the best things and are much appreciated by us parents. The school is very rich from the point of view of infrastructure as well. That is also a great advantage.

Please tell us about your perceptions about the online classes?

Definitely, online classes can’t be one’s preference especially in the case of little children who require a lot of physical activity for their development. But in the current scenario of the pandemic, the school is conducting itself in the best way possible. The school is conducting all activities in the online mode. That way the students feel engaged and don’t feel the difference of education in the online classes. They are busy the entire day with their mother for the activities. Yes, it increases the workload for the parents but it is ideal in the current situation.
