It was a moment of great honour as Assistant Professor Anuj Kumar from Apeejay School of Management, Dwarka, Delhi was invited as delegate in the 5th Edition of India’s largest STEM Education Conference.

This prestigious event was presided over by Prof. Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar, Chairman, University Grants Commission (UGC), and Prof. (Dr.) T G Sitharam, Chairman of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), who were the guest of honours. Also, Dr Vijay Kumar Saraswat, member of NITI Aayog presided over as the chief guest for the STEM Education Conference.

Stem Education Conference is designed to break down silos, expand attendees’ knowledge and forge collaborations, with the overarching collective goal to improve Robotics in India and open gates for Research and Career Opportunities in Robotics and Automation.

Kickstarting the conference, both the UGC and AICTE chairman discussed the importance of research for faculty and at institute level. The event also witnessed ISRO scientists who were part of the Chandrayaan-3 mission as part of the panel discussion. The women scientists discussed their journey, how they have tackled the initial hiccups and how the failure of Chandrayaan-2 worked as a motivation for them. They discussed their home challenges as well during this mission.

During the event, the programme organisers further put special emphasis on how robotics and technology are changing the paradigm and helping in transforming the outer world. There was a discussion on industry 4.0, robotics labs, etc. State education ministers and secretaries discussed STEM promotions in different states.

During the event, Prof. Anuj Kumar further got the opportunity to meet and interact with Hon. Chairman of UGC as well as AICTE while getting to learn about the experiences of women’s scientists involved in Chandrayaan-3 mission.

Sharing his thoughts, Prof. Kumar mentioned, “It was a wonderful opportunity to listen to both the esteemed personalities. They shared their opinions about seeing research as the future for the institutions. We need to improve the research output at rural level as colleges and universities situated there have a lot of challenges. I also heard the experiences of the women’s scientist team from ISRO and interacted with them. Overall, it was a great experience!”
