Artificial intelligence (AI) and in particular ChatGPT, which stands for Generative Pre-trained Transformer has been taking the entire world by storm since the past few weeks. It can write a professional article,a top quality poem or story, and can even design pictures like an expert. Many are of the opinion that it would create new job profiles while many argue that it would instead increase job displacement. Whatever one’s perspective is, one thing is sure that AI has become  a dominant force that is being used to aid human labour.

Apeejay School, Noida has always been a step ahead in giving the best education to their students. In an attempt to introduce all students to AI, the school organised a special assembly put together by students of class 12-A.

The assembly commenced with a thoughtful introduction by anchors Samaira Sheikh and Ratna Srivastava. An immensely engrossing PowerPoint Presentation prepared by Vidit Dang and Atharv Singhal enthralled the audience. They highlighted, “AI is already present in our daily lives in various forms such as voice assistants like Siri and Alexa, recommendation algorithms on social media and predictive text on our mobile phones.” They further mentioned how such technologies can radically improve our efficiency, productivity, and quality of life. However, alongside, one must ensure ethical and moral use of the same. This was followed by Garv Jain telling the audience with some mind boggling facts about AI from its conception to present day features.

An informative Ted Talk by Aryaman R Srivastava regaled the students on the AI v/s humans debate. Aryaman explained how AI, despite solving complex problems, can not be equal to a human in value. He argued that humans have empathy and emotions unlike AI, thereby making the latter only a tool to be used for social betterment. He stated, “The human mind is far more complex, created and unique for anyone to code it into a machine. AI will never replace humans. The only intelligence we need to fear is human intelligence, not from the machines.”

This was followed by a highly interactive quiz by Narayan Parashar and Nakul Zutshi that splurged energy among the audience, as students competed with each other to answer the fastest. The quiz consisted of interesting questions such as deep blue being the first artificial intelligence programme to beat a human in chess. Rishit Katiyar also informed the audience about his achievement in the ‘NASA – Rid the Rocket’ event and shared his insights about AI.

Teacher in charge, Neena Aggarwal mentioned, “There are times when some myths are dispelled by the new generation. This morning assembly organised by class 12-A students was one such experience. It was an eye opener for one and everyone else as the students explained A-Z about AI. It is at Apeejay School, Noida alone that students get such a platform to express their innovative  thoughts and ideas. More power to them!”

Principal, Ms. Ritu Kohli was mighty impressed with the efforts of the students and congratulated them all on putting on a great show. She further iterated the points discussed during the assembly and apprised the students about the moral and ethical implications of AI in present times.
