Parinita Singh is an Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication (AIMC) alumna. After finishing her education in Advertising and Marketing Communications, she completed her internship at Communique Marketing Solutions in Gurgaon. Post internship, she was successfully retained by the organisation as a Client Servicing Executive.

Speaking with the Newsroom over a quick call, Parinita highlights her job responsibilities, experience during the internship as well as explains what makes AIMC the go to place for aspirants aiming to join the corporate world.

Parinita, did you get this internship through campus placement?

Yes! I did.

That’s fantastic! So, did the professors  train you  for the interviews?

Absolutely right! Pijush sir was our mentor and he is such a great guide. He was the one who trained us and I can’t thank him enough. The efforts he puts behind the success of students is really admirable.

So how many rounds of interviews or selection process were there?

Luckily, it was just two rounds for me. This was so since I gave a great interview in the first round (which was held at Communique’s office). I was selected in that round itself. However, I had to sit for another virtual interview later. After that, I had to simply submit my documents and I became an intern.

And what about your work-profile?

So, Communique is an experiential marketing company. I was initiated into client servicing as an intern. Now as an employee, I am also doing influencer marketing alongside the previous work. This is an event company, hence all the work is digital.

What about your time at AIMC? How was that?

It was really good. I was a late admission so I had only six months at the campus. But those six months were very good. I made many friends on campus and some of them also got placed here at Communique with me . So that feels great. It feels like I am carrying a part of AIMC with me.

How did the advertising and marketing communications course benefit you?

I did not know much about advertising before I joined AIMC. I thought advertising was similar to journalism but I realised both were very different.

Studying advertising instilled confidence within me. My communication skills and presentation skills grew. I learned many other key skills like Photoshop as a part of my course. The overall course prepared me for the job industry.

Key learnings at AIMC?

I learned different skills at AIMC. As I just mentioned, my confidence levels grew manifold. My communication skills also improved so much. This is helping me in my field everyday and I can’t be more thankful.

Any advice for a current student?

Enjoy your time, chin up and work hard. If you work hard then you increase your chances of getting placed. So no point stressing about placement. Just put in the work and the results will speak!

Finally, where do you see yourself in the next five years?

At a good MNC doing some quality work.

A talented correspondent writing special articles, interviews and also doing video coverages. Alongside being a poet, short story writer and football player in the time he finds away from work. You can read Arijit's literary pieces and watch his performances easily on the internet. He can be reached at [email protected] and [email protected]
