Kavita Arora, mother of Diamond Arora, a student of Apeejay Institute of Management and Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), reveals why she instantly decided to enroll her son at the institute
Diamond Arora, a Master of Computer Applications (MCA) student at Apeejay Institute of Management and Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), appreciates the way the professors inculcate practical knowledge and skills through interesting projects. In an interview, Diamond and his mother Kavita, who runs their family general store, talk about how AIMETC has promoted his overall development. Edited excerpts:
How did you come to know about AIMETC? What encouraged you to opt for it?
Diamond: I completed my Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) from the same institute. Now, I am in the first year of MCA. One of our relatives, who teaches at AIMETC, told us about the college. The teaching faculty, facilities like computer labs, and opportunities offered are quite good.
Kavita: I visited the college at the time of his admission and liked the campus instantly. I had a very good interaction with Professor Ranjit Singh. He explained everything about the course in detail, which convinced us further to enroll our son at AIMETC.
What was your experience at the college campus like? Did you like the classes?
Diamond: I enjoyed the overall environment. AIMETC gives a lot of emphasis on practical knowledge, which is beneficial. The professors are not just good scholars but also great at explaining all concepts; I have never faced any difficulty. They are very supportive and encourage us to get all our doubts cleared. They are always available on WhatsApp.
Tell us about the online classes.
Diamond: Online classes have also been good. They are held according to a strict timetable. I have not faced any challenges so far.
Kavita: I keep asking Diamond about his classes and studies. I have seen him attend online classes regularly.
How does AIMETC promote practical expertise?
Diamond: Our class gets to work on various projects as well as assignments. We recently built a grocery website with our professor’s help.
Do you participate in extra-curricular activities at AIMETC?
Diamond: I play cricket and have represented AIMETC at some inter-college competitions. I am also part of the National Service Scheme (NSS) club and have been involved in some social work.
How has AIMETC helped in overall personality development?
Diamond: I used to be under-confident. Thanks to my teachers at AIMETC, I have been able to build enough confidence now. The institute also organises webinars on personality development, which have helped me learn a lot.
Kavita: Earlier, Diamond would hesitate to interact with friends and relatives, but there has been a significant improvement now. He has become self-reliant and is ready to take up any challenge. He has been able to overcome his nervousness and complete every task at hand with confidence.
What are your plans for the future?
Diamond: I am planning to get a job in the IT sector after completing my course.
What about the placement opportunities that AIMETC offers?
Diamond: The placement cell keeps us updated with all developments. They guide us well about the job profiles that would suit us the most. They also keep us informed about the companies recruiting students.
You have spent quite a few years at AIMETC now. Are you attached to the institute?
Diamond: I have made great memories at the college, from sports events to camaraderie with friends and faculty members. I have spent a fruitful time at AIMETC, which I will always cherish.
