‘A science competition igniting young minds’

Students at Apeejay School, Noida demonstrated their grasp of science with insightful presentations at the competition

Science, the bedrock of human progress, provides profound insights into the natural world and fosters critical thinking about technological advancements.

Science competitions, known for their inherent fun, generate a unique level of excitement among students, allowing them to explore scientific concepts practically and engagingly. Apeejay School, Noida, organised a science competition titled ‘Be That Scientist’ on November 20, 2023, exclusively for class V students. The event aimed to enhance teamwork, problem-solving skills, and prepare students for real-world scientific endeavors.

The competition focused on scientists’ inventions and discoveries, providing students with the opportunity to step into the shoes of a scientist and emulate their work. This concept actively involved students in promoting their scientific temper, helping them realise their potential and hidden skills. A preliminary selection round for students was conducted between November 5-17, 2023.

Organising such competitions is crucial for schools as they empower budding students to gain a deeper understanding of how science empowers individuals to make informed decisions. In this event, every student had the chance to participate and immerse themselves in the sci-fi world.



A distinguished panel of judges, including Ms Neha Joshi, a senior principal and education application engineer and Dr Gareema Verma, an MBBS commended the efforts and creativity demonstrated by all the students.

Shortlisted students from each section of class V showcased their presentations, making use of props and models to create a more realistic competition environment. The event provided every student with the opportunity to delve into the realm of innovation and unleash their creativity. After completing their presentations, participants underwent assessment and judgment based on creativity, ideation, research context, utilisation of props and costumes, and overall performance.

Following the evaluation, students who made exceptional contributions and presentations were shortlisted by the esteemed guests. Mrs Smriti Samuel, the Primary incharge, expressed her innate appreciation for the students and their unwavering efforts. She also provided guidance for further improvement and officially announced the competition results.

As per the judges, Chitramukta of class V-B secured the first position, followed by Reet Khanna and Hazel Joshi from Class V-B and Class V-F, respectively, who secured the second position. Additionally, outstanding students from different sections were appreciated and recognised.

In conclusion, the science competition that was organised by Apeejay School, Noida, proved to be a remarkable experience that not only showcased individual talents but also fostered a unique level of collaboration within the student community.
