A homebound vacation filled with family, hobbies, and memorable moments

Every year, the school provides us with two kinds of vacations, out of which, one is the winter vacation. During the summer vacation, I usually visit my native place. Soon after the Ganpati holidays comes the Diwali vacation. At this time we clean our house and time passes by in the Diwali preparation and celebration.

Then comes the winter vacation. At this time I usually spend all my time in the house. This vacation is for around 10-12 days. This year’s vacation was no different. As the vacation comes to an end, I self-reflect upon how I spent my vacation.

Winter vacation is one of the most-awaited breaks of the year. I usually spend my vacation outside my home, like going on a trip or visiting my grandmother’s house. But, this year I spent my winter vacation in the comfort of my home.

At home, I felt relaxed and all the school stress just vanished. The peaceful environment of the house made my mind calm too. In contrast with the busy schedule of school days, I spent a lot of time with my family and had a lot of fun with them. It was an amazing vacation for me.

It is important to be in line with your academics. But other than that, we should never let our hobbies die. These holidays gave me a chance to revive my love for sketching.

Sketching has always given me positivity and I guess spending my time in art has made my vacation more special. Through art, I express myself, and all my worries just fade away. Spending time in sketching is one of the highlights of these holidays.

Reading books improves your vocabulary and provides you with many different ways to view the world. It is always suggested that we should take some time out from our busy lives and read good and knowledgeable books. Even though I usually dont read books much during my school days,but this vacation raised an interest in me for reading them. Once I started reading, I just couldn’t stop. Unknowingly, I developed a habit of reading books. Reading now gives me a sense of happiness. This vacation helped me develop a good habit that I couldn’t develop ever before.

As a student of IX standard, my studies are tougher as compared to other students in lower grades. I am usually busy doing my homework or studying on school days. This has declined my time for entertainment. But during these holidays I got a lot of time for watching movies and entertaining myself. I usually watch the movies with my family, entertaining all of us. Watching funny movies made us all laugh together after such a long time. As a result, I have created some of the most beautiful memories during these holidays.

Christmas and New Year are the two big occasions that arrive during the Winter vacation and that’s when even my father has a holiday from his office. That gives us a chance to go to a fancy restaurant or to go to a tourist place nearby. So this time too, on a Christmas afternoon we went to the mall. We had a great time there, playing games in the game zone. After shopping for a while in the mall, we went to an exotic restaurant and had dinner.

Soon the vacation will come to an end. Again the routine life has begun. Now I can truly say that it was a wonderful time filled with joy and laughter.

It reminded me of the various hobbies that I couldn’t work on and motivated me to continuously improve in all sectors of my life. I created a lot of great memories. I was also reminded that it is important for us to keep making more and more memories with our family. I learned that it is essential to keep entertaining yourself. All the beautiful moments of this time will remain forever in my heart.
