Read edited excerpts:

Can you tell us about your academic journey at Apeejay Stya University?

My decision to join Apeejay Stya University, Gurugram was primarily influenced by two factors: their Oracle Courses Training and my keen interest in Artificial Intelligence (AI). The university’s curriculum, which focused on liberal arts, stood out as it provided a wide variety of courses across different streams. This diverse approach helped me gain knowledge in various subjects beyond my degree.

How did your education at Apeejay Stya University prepare you for your current role as a Deep Learning Intern at Corteva Agriscience?

My interest in AI began early during my college days. Most of my academic journey was conducted online, and I actively participated in workshops and masterclasses to map out my AI career path. My enthusiasm for data science continued to grow, evolving from an interest into an addiction. This passion eventually led me to seek an internship at Corteva Agriscience, where I work as a Deep Learning and Computer Vision Intern.

Could you provide an overview of your responsibilities and day-to-day tasks as a Deep Learning Intern? How does your work contribute to the objectives of Corteva Agriscience?

As a Deep Learning Intern at Corteva Agriscience, I collaborate closely with other imaging scientists, software engineers, data engineers, and data scientists. In this dynamic research environment, my role involves designing and implementing end-to-end solutions for image processing and computer vision applications. This includes configuring deep learning environments, preparing agricultural data (pre-processing, cleaning, and aligning true labels with images), data visualisation, and basic data-science modeling for images. Our work ultimately contributes to the development of advanced solutions for agriculture-related challenges.

How do you stay updated with the latest advancements in deep learning and agriscience, and do you have any recommended resources or strategies for staying current in your field?

Keeping up with the latest advancements is indeed crucial. I make an effort to stay informed by exploring various resources. I regularly read online journals and research papers, attend academic conferences, and take advantage of online learning platforms like Coursera, edX, and Udacity, which offer courses and tutorials on deep learning and related subjects. Blogs, newsletters, and social media platforms such as Twitter, LinkedIn, and Reddit are also excellent sources of information. Engaging with online communities dedicated to AI and agriscience is another way to stay updated and connected with experts in the field.

Can you share some memorable experiences or highlights from your time at Apeejay Stya University that continue to influence your professional journey?

My time at Apeejay Stya University was filled with memorable experiences. I particularly value the friendships I developed with classmates who supported and guided me throughout my academic journey. Although I’m not a very social person, I learned the importance of connecting with others who share similar interests. My university experience taught me that being a self-learner is incredibly valuable. There’s a famous quote that resonates with me: “Work hard in silence, let success make the noise.” This mindset continues to drive my professional growth.
