A drop to save life

Students of Apeejay Stya University participate in a blood donation camp, quiz and poster making competitions

Owing to the rise in dengue cases in Delhi-NCR, School of Education, National Service Scheme (NSS) and the Rotaract Club of Apeejay Stya University (ASU), Gurugram organised a blood donation camp in collaboration with the Rotary Blood Bank, New Delhi. The donation camp witnessed the participation of more than 100 students.

Prof. Raj S Dhankar, Vice Chancellor at ASU along with the Rtr. Archita Rath, President of Rotaract Club inaugurated the event. Meanwhile, Prof. Moin Uddin, Distinguished Professor at ASU and Ex-Director of NIT-Jalandhar, Prof. Sanjay Ahirwal, Dean of Students Welfare and Prof. Ananda Padhan, Head of School of Education were the dignitaries present during the inauguration.

Dr. Vijay Kumar, Associate Professor of the School of Education was the faculty coordinator of the blood donation camp. Whereas, Rtr. Archita Rath, President of Rotaract Club of ASUG and Rtr. Vibhuti Verma, Secretary of RaCASUG were the student coordinator of the camp.

Commenting on the blood donation initiative, Dr Vijay Kumar said, “ASU students volunteered enthusiastically in the blood donation camp and helped save lives of many people.”

Further, students also participated in the poster making and quiz competitions on the theme of blood donation. The poster making competition was coordinated by Prof Dibendu Tripathy whereas Dr. Afia, Assistant Professor at the School of Education coordinated the quiz competition. 

For poster making competition, Neha Agrawal from M. Design (GD), Medha Madhuri from B.Design (FD) and Arushi Prajapati from B.Design (FD) bagged the first, second and third positions, respectively.

However, there was a tie for the winners of the quiz competition. First prize for quiz competition were shared by Komal and Priyanka Patel of BSc, BEd along with Aryan Sharma and Lakshya of BBA whereas Ravindra and Rahul from B.Pharma got second prize.

At the end, Prof. Padhan and Dr. Vijay Kumar felicitated the winners, team of Rotary Blood Bank and the student coordinators of the camp for successfully organising the event.
