A cultural extravaganza highlights the significance of Hindi language and heritage

Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA) in Jalandhar recently hosted a spirited celebration of Hindi Diwas in collaboration with Punjab National Bank, featuring esteemed guests Sardar Harvinder Singh Randhawa, DY General Manager, Circle Head, Jalandhar and Mr Narendra Jassi, SR Branch Manager, Apeejay School, Jalandhar. The event, which aimed to highlight the significance of the Hindi language, was marked by a series of engaging activities and cultural expressions.

Dr Neerja Dhingra, Principal of ACFA known for her eloquence, delivered a poignant address emphasising how Hindi serves as a unifying force in India and spreads the message of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world is one family).

The festivities commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by soul-stirring Kabir couplets presented by the college’s talented students. Harvansh, a talented student shared her self-composed poem titled Chalo thik hae! which resonated deeply with the audience. Shivanshi Khanna, a 5th Semester B.COM student, narrated a captivating story, while Khushi Sharma, a 1st Semester B.VOC E-Commerce and digital marketing student recited a heartfelt poem, evoking emotions and applause from the attendees.

Akshat Sharma, a BA 1 Semester student delivered an enlightening speech on the ‘Importance of the National Language,’ shedding light on the cultural and social significance of Hindi.

The celebration didn’t conclude with Hindi Diwas; it extended into a week-long festival dedicated to the language and culture. The Hindi Week featured a variety of exciting competitions, including Essay Writing and Portrait Making, designed to engage students and showcase their talents while fostering a deeper connection with their heritage.

Students like Akshay Bhaskar, Khushi Sharma, Shivanshi Khanna, and others showcased their exceptional skills and earned well-deserved accolades for their contributions to the festivities.

Dr Dhingra and the distinguished guests recognised and congratulated the winners, expressing their appreciation for the students’ dedication to promoting the Hindi language and culture.

The event also served as an occasion to express gratitude to Punjab National Bank for its invaluable support in nurturing the talents of the college’s students. The success of the event was attributed to the diligent efforts of Ritika, BBA 3rd Semester student and Himani, BA 1st Semester student who played pivotal roles in ensuring its resounding success.

Overall, the Hindi Diwas celebration was a vibrant and culturally rich event that not only celebrated the essence of the Hindi language but also showcased the exceptional talents of its students.
