Mrs. Partiksha Manik is an entrepreneur. Her company First Notch Consulting deals with the field of recruitment. Mr. Sachin Manik, her husband is the Assistant General Manager at Genesys International. They are proud parents of Ishita Manik, a class six student at Apeejay Kharghar.

In a wide-ranging interview, Mrs. Manik appreciates the school for finely balancing extra-curricular progress alongside the academic activities. Edited excerpts:

Why did you choose Apeejay School, Kharghar, for the admission of your daughter?

We have been staying here at Kharghar since the past 10-11 years. We have done the research from our end on all the schools in our locality. There are so many schools in Kharghar but the feedback we got about Apeejay Kharghar was in line with what we were expecting from a good school. We were focused on a school that was balancing the extra-curricular activities along with the academic front.

Please tell us a bit about Ishita and take us through her progress at school?

She likes English, Science and Maths. Art is also among her favourite subjects. She loves skating a lot as well. Before the pandemic, she was taking part in the skating classes in school. The school keeps introducing new courses for the overall development of the child. A couple of years ago, the school had organised a ‘Helen O Grady’ activity in which the teachers bring out the qualities from the child in a playful manner using a lot of team building activities. These activities bring out the latent qualities, the hidden potential of the child.

Are the teachers engaging well with the students?

The first teacher my daughter had in Apeejay Kharghar was Ms. Sudeshna Sengupta. The way she handled my child right from day one, it was just awesome. I was a bit worried initially but she just let Ishita be and brought out the best in her. I was really happy with the pre-primary section of the school. The teachers in the primary section know each and every student personally despite there being 45-50 students in a class. They invest the time in knowing every student and they also give feedback so that the parents can also work on their child in a particular way.

What is the best thing about the school?

I feel it is the curriculum, extra-curricular activities and the way the school ensures the overall development of the students. I have mentioned it widely in the previous questions.

How has the experience of online classes been for Ishita?

Online classes were really awesome. Both my husband and I were genuinely happy with the online classes. The school was really prepared from day one. In April 2020, when the pandemic had just set in, the other schools were still planning how to go about things but Apeejay Kharghar was well planned and had that clarity. The classes commenced in the way the physical school takes place. We were pleasantly surprised to see the school so tremendously well-prepared for the online classes.

Now that the school has reopened, is she happy to be back at the school?

Ishita is very happy. My child was looking forward to the school being reopened. She was missing meeting her friends. It is a different world altogether when the students meet their friends in the school.
