Apeejay School of Management (ASM), Dwarka hosted an engaging and insightful interaction with Ms. Geetika Sharma, alumna of the PGDM 2011–2013 batch, for students specialising in Operations and Decision Science from the current PGDM 2025–27 batch. The two-hour session provided students an opportunity to connect academic concepts with real-world professional experiences while gaining valuable insights into the diverse career opportunities awaiting them.

Ms. Geetika Sharma currently serves as Assistant Director at the Quality Council of India (QCI) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. A project management professional with more than 12 years of experience, she has been involved in delivering large-scale projects across India’s educational ecosystem. Drawing upon her extensive professional journey, she offered students a practical perspective on the complexities, challenges and opportunities associated with project and quality management.

During the interaction, Ms. Geetika shared experiences from the multiple projects she has handled over the years. Her professional anecdotes helped students understand how theoretical frameworks are applied when managing projects in real-world settings. She effectively connected her experiences with two key subjects in the Operations and Decision Science specialisation — Project Management and Quality Management.

A key takeaway from the session was the close relationship between effective project management and quality service delivery, particularly in the services sector. Using examples from the education ecosystem, Ms. Geetika explained how well-planned and efficiently executed projects can contribute significantly to improving the quality of services. The discussion encouraged students to look beyond the successful completion of a project and consider aspects such as value creation, quality standards and the overall impact of their work.

The interaction also focused on career preparedness. Ms. Geetika guided students on how they could equip themselves with relevant knowledge and skills to navigate the variety of career opportunities available in project management, quality management and related domains. Her journey from an Apeejay alumna to an accomplished professional served as an encouraging example of how academic learning can provide a strong foundation for long-term career growth.

Students appreciated the opportunity to learn directly from an industry professional and gain clarity through practical examples. Mohamaad Ayan, PGDM 2025–27, observed that a successful project is not merely one that gets completed, but one that creates value while meeting the right quality standards. He expressed gratitude for opportunities that enable students to connect classroom concepts with real-world experiences.

Similarly, Daksh Agarwal, PGDM 2025–27, shared that Ms. Geetika’s detailed explanation of Project Management concepts, supported by real-life examples, gave him a clearer understanding of how projects are planned, managed and successfully completed.

The session served as a meaningful platform for experiential learning, reinforcing Apeejay School of Management’s commitment to strengthening industry-academia connect and preparing students for the dynamic demands of the professional world.
