The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has released the round 2 seat allotment result for 2026 counselling. This brings candidates one step closer to securing admission to IITs, NITs, IIITs, IISc Bangalore and other government-funded technical institutes.

Candidates who participated in the second round can check their allotment status on the official JoSAA website by logging in with their application number and password. Those who have been allotted a seat must now complete the online reporting process within the prescribed deadline.

As part of the process, candidates are required to accept the allotted seat, pay the seat acceptance fee, upload the necessary documents and respond to any queries raised during document verification. For Round 2, online reporting, fee payment, document upload and query response are open from June 30 to July 3, 2026, up to 5 pm. Fee payment-related issues will be resolved by July 4, 2026, at 5 pm.

Candidates must also choose one of the available willingness options: freeze, float or slide. The “freeze” option is for candidates who are satisfied with both the allotted institute and programme and do not wish to take part in further rounds.

The “float” option allows candidates to retain the current seat while being considered for a higher-preference institute in later rounds.

The “slide” option is for candidates who are happy with the allotted institute but want a higher-preference programme within the same institute.

Candidates who do not wish to continue in the counselling process can submit a withdrawal request between July 1, 10 am, and July 3, 5 pm. The last date to respond to withdrawal-related and round 2 verification queries is July 5, 2026, up to 5 pm.

After round 2 reporting closes, JoSAA will process upgrades and release the round 3 allotment result as per the schedule.
