The Centre has decided to strengthen and overhaul the Central Board of Secondary Education’s (CBSE) payment gateway system following technical and payment-related difficulties faced by students and parents while accessing post-result services, including re-evaluation.

Newly held meeting focused on improving the reliability of the digital payment infrastructure and ensuring that students can complete transactions without facing repeated technical disruptions.

Following the discussions, four major public sector banks, such as State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank and Indian Bank, will work with CBSE to strengthen its payment gateway infrastructure. The banks will also assist in improving the integration between the payment system and the board’s post-exam services portal.

The participating banks will help establish robust payment protocols aimed at ensuring smoother and more secure transactions. The proposed measures will focus on timely processing of payments, faster resolution of failed transactions and automatic refunds in cases where students or parents make excess payments.

The CBSE will undertake a comprehensive overhaul of its existing payment gateway system as well. The move aims to enhance the system’s reliability and minimise technical difficulties that may disrupt access to essential post-result services.

The initiative brings together the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Finance, CBSE and the four participating public sector banks to address concerns surrounding the Board’s digital payment infrastructure.

The coordinated effort is expected to strengthen payment gateway stability and improve the overall user experience for students and parents using CBSE’s online post-exam services. The overhaul will particularly focus on ensuring that payment-related issues do not hinder students seeking re-evaluation or other services following the declaration of results.
