The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Jalandhar, marked World Consumer Rights Day with great enthusiasm and a strong commitment to promoting awareness about consumer rights and responsible consumption among students.

To commemorate the occasion, an awareness session on the Consumer Protection Act and consumer rights was organised to educate students about their rights as consumers and the available mechanisms for grievance redressal. The session aimed to equip students with the knowledge required to make informed decisions in an increasingly complex and rapidly evolving digital marketplace. Emphasis was placed on the importance of being vigilant, aware, and responsible while engaging in purchasing activities, especially in the era of online transactions and e-commerce.

The session provided valuable insights into various aspects of consumer protection, including consumer rights, unfair trade practices, and procedures for filing complaints. Students were encouraged to become proactive consumers who not only understand their rights but also exercise them responsibly. The discussion also highlighted the significance of ethical business practices and the role of regulatory frameworks in safeguarding consumer interests.

In addition to the awareness session, a series of engaging activities were organised to foster creativity and active participation among students. A Quiz Competition tested participants’ knowledge of consumer rights, laws, and general awareness related to consumer protection. The Poster Making Competition provided students with a platform to express their ideas and understanding through artistic and innovative representations. Participants enthusiastically showcased their creativity, effectively conveying messages about responsible consumer behaviour and awareness.

The event was organised by the IQAC and coordinated by Anu Sahi, who appreciated the active involvement of students and commended their creative contributions. She particularly lauded the efforts of participants in the poster-making competition, noting that their work reflected a deep understanding of consumer issues and successfully communicated the importance of awareness in today’s consumer-driven society.

The celebration proved to be both informative and inspiring, as it sensitised students to the importance of making informed consumer choices and understanding their rights and responsibilities. It also reinforced the need for ethical practices in the marketplace and highlighted the role of consumers in ensuring fairness and transparency.

The event concluded on a meaningful note, reiterating the powerful message of “Jaago Grahak Jaago,” encouraging students to stay informed and vigilant. Through such initiatives, the institution continues to empower students with essential knowledge and life skills, preparing them to become responsible and aware citizens in the modern economic landscape.
