R.K. Pranav, a bright and well-rounded student of class 8th from Apeejay School, Pitampura, was recently honoured with the prestigious Dr. Stya Paul Award for Human Values. This annual award recognises students who embody integrity, human values, and excellence in behaviour and conduct. Apeejay Newsroom spoke with Pranav about his journey, study habits, and how he balances academic success with extracurricular pursuits. Here’s what he had to say:

What does academic excellence mean to you personally?

Academic excellence, to me, isn’t just about top grades; it’s about the overall development of an individual. It means excelling not just in studies but also in sports and other areas of life. It’s about being well-rounded and continuously striving to improve.

Can you share a moment when you faced a tough academic challenge and overcame it?

Yes, I once made some silly mistakes in a Maths exam. It was frustrating, but I didn’t give up. I made a plan to practise Maths every day, which helped me correct those mistakes and improve my performance.

How do you stay motivated and consistent with your studies throughout the year?

I stay motivated by practising different subjects every day and mixing in sports. Playing sports helps me refresh my mind, and this balance keeps me consistent with my studies.

How do extracurricular activities contribute to your academic success?

Extracurricular activities, like music and sports, help keep my mind active and energetic. This energy translates into better focus and performance in my studies, so it’s a crucial part of my daily routine.

What study habits have helped you stay focused over the years?

Reading novels daily and engaging in sports have been key habits. These activities help me stay focused and provide a healthy outlet for stress, which is important for my academic success.

What new habits have you developed this year that helped you succeed?

This year, I started reading newspapers and books outside of my school subjects. It’s helped me build confidence and broaden my knowledge, while also improving my focus in academics.

How do you balance having fun with doing schoolwork?

I prioritise schoolwork and studies first, ensuring they are completed before enjoying time with family and friends. This balance helps me stay disciplined while also allowing me to have fun.

What advice would you give your younger self?

I would tell my younger self to be consistent with studies but also have fun. There should be no pressure; this is the time to grow, develop inner strength, and focus on improving human values.
