Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri, organised an engaging fine motor activity for its Nursery students, providing them with an opportunity to learn through hands-on exploration. Conducted under the guidance of the class in-charge, Ms Navneet, the activity aimed to strengthen essential motor skills while making learning enjoyable and meaningful.
Titled ‘Tiny Fingers, Big Learning’, the activity involved pasting colourful pulses onto a glass surface. The young learners participated enthusiastically, carefully picking up individual pulses and placing them on the surface. Through this simple yet purposeful exercise, the children explored different textures, colours and materials while developing important foundational skills.

A key objective of the activity was to enhance fine motor skills, particularly the pincer grip, which involves using the thumb and index finger to hold small objects. As the children picked up and pasted the pulses, they exercised the small muscles of their fingers and hands. These movements help develop the strength and control required for activities such as holding a pencil, drawing, colouring and performing everyday tasks independently.

The activity also helped improve hand-eye coordination, as the children observed the surface and positioned each pulse with care. The process encouraged patience, focus and sustained attention, allowing them to complete the task at their own pace. The colourful materials further stimulated their sensory awareness and creativity, making the classroom experience interactive and enjoyable.
The initiative reflected the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasises experiential, play-based and child-centred learning during the foundational years. By engaging directly with the materials, the children developed practical skills through exploration rather than instruction alone.
“The fine motor activity conducted for the Nursery students at Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri
on 7 October 2026 was a delightful example of learning through joyful participation. Pasting
pulses on a glass surface helped children strengthen their pincer grip, hand-eye coordination,
concentration and finger muscles. I appreciate Ms Navneet, class in-charge, for creating such
meaningful hands-on learning opportunities. Such experiential activities beautifully reflect the
spirit of NEP 2020, encouraging curiosity, creativity, independence and holistic development.” shares Dr Vineet Vasishtha, Principal of the school.

The activity concluded on a cheerful note, with the little learners proudly admiring their creations. It highlighted how simple classroom experiences can nurture confidence, independence, perseverance and creativity while supporting holistic development in the early years.
