Stories have a way of drawing children into a world where imagination, expression, and participation come naturally. Keeping this spirit at the centre, Apeejay School, Saket, recently organised a special Story Narration Session for young learners from nursery to Class V.
The session was led by Ms Sparda Chaturvedi, author, Inclusive Education Advocate, Early Childhood Educator, designer, and sign language practitioner. Her interaction with the children introduced them to storytelling as an engaging form of expression while also bringing attention to inclusion and active participation.
Stories as a shared experience
The session gave children an opportunity to experience storytelling beyond simply listening to a narrative. It placed expression and participation at the heart of the activity, encouraging young learners to connect with stories in an engaging and accessible manner.
For children in the early years and primary classes, such interactions can create space for listening, responding, and expressing themselves. The focus on inclusivity also gave the session a wider purpose by presenting storytelling as an experience in which every child can participate.
The interaction reflected how stories can become a simple yet meaningful way of bringing children together. By combining narration with participation, the session kept young learners involved while introducing them to different ways of engaging with ideas.

Learning outcomes
The session offered several learning outcomes rooted in communication and participation. Children were encouraged to listen attentively, express themselves, and take part in a shared learning experience. The emphasis on inclusivity also helped reinforce the idea that learning spaces should allow every child to feel involved.
More importantly, the session introduced storytelling as an enjoyable way to communicate thoughts and connect with others. For the young learners, it was an opportunity to experience stories not merely as something to hear, but as a space to participate, respond, and express.
