 “Nazariya” encouraged Apeejay students to showcase their talent via the lens 

Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar organised a photography competition

Many would agree that a photograph is the pause button of life. A picture makes an individual reflect through the time, moment and memory  featured in it. Thus, further encouraging the art of photography among students, the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar recently organised a Photography competition – Nazariya. Students from all departments of the college participated in it with great zeal and enthusiasm.

Inaugurating the competition, Dr. Neerja Dhingra, Principal at ACFA, expressed, “Our college is a multi-disciplinary and multi-faculty college in which different types of competitions are organised and thus, students can learn from teachers of other departments.”

During the competition,  students clicked pictures of various things, places, scenes using different lens and angles like portraits, wide angle, close ups, eagle shots etc. Mr. Kunj (Department of Applied Art) was the judge of this competition.

On the basis of quality, creativity and uniqueness, Udhayvir Singh Sandhu from B. Design Multimedia, Semester 5, bagged the first position while Arbaaz from BBA Innovation 1st Sem bagged the second position.

While Aryan (BFA 3rd sem) and Revanshi (BDM 3rd Sem) bagged 1st and 2nd prize respectively for captioning the photographs.

Sharing his thoughts, winner Udhayvir Singh Sandhu expressed, “Participating in the Nazariya Photography Competition was a great opportunity. I felt very good that my photograph won the first prize. It gave me exposure and motivation to further develop my photography skills. I would like to thank the faculty of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication for organising this event.”

Winner Aryan shared, “Landing my position in photography was a pivotal moment. It allowed me to showcase my talent, grow as an artist, and make a name for myself.” 

Lastly, Dr. Dhingra honoured the winners with certificates. She also acknowledged the efforts of Mr. Mohit, Ms. Ritu Sohal and Ms.Kiranjit Kaur of Department of Journalism and Mass Communication for successfully organising this competition.
