Global digital learning company Pearson has announced the launch of several AI-powered study tools, aimed at providing students with personalised learning experiences directly from their e-textbooks or study platforms. These tools are accessible through Pearson+ Channels, a feature of the company’s e-textbook subscription service that offers a library of video tutorials.

The new AI tools include:

Personalised Study and Exam Prep: Students can upload their course syllabus to generate a customised learning plan, allowing the AI to create a study schedule that aligns with their course requirements.

Interactive Video Learning: A new “ask a question” function enables students to pause instructional videos and engage with a chatbot, providing immediate answers to their queries.

Expanded AI Study Tools: A generative AI-powered tutor offers step-by-step solutions to problems, unique video content, practice questions, and more, enhancing the learning process.

These additions complement Pearson’s existing suite of AI tools, already integrated into platforms like MyLab and Mastering. These platforms provide personalised guidance, content summaries, and detailed explanations for complex concepts, aimed at helping students navigate challenging coursework more effectively. Recently, AI tools for instructors were also introduced in select MyLab and Mastering titles to assist in creating tailored assignments for students.

Tony Prentice, Pearson’s Chief Product Officer, highlighted the impact of AI in education. “Students using AI tools to better understand complex topics are achieving higher grades,” he said. “As AI continues to transform education, it’s encouraging to see both students and faculty embracing these advancements. The future of personalized learning is here, and we are committed to enhancing the educational experience for everyone involved.”
