We live in an extremely competitive world and that means that our children need that extra edge to stand out in the crowd. Just academic excellence is no longer the parameters of a successful career. Therefore, a parent must choose a school that believes in the holistic development of the child. This kind of educational environment tends to empower students to explore their interests thus helping them make informed decisions later in life.

Meet advocate Aditi Malhotra, mother of Arush Malhotra, studying in class VII at Apeejay School, Tanda Road, who wanted to give her child that extra push and enrolled him at this school.

In a candid interview, the mother gives in-depth insights about how teachers of this school encourage every child to take part in different activities.

How has been Arush’s experience at this school so far?

The staff, teachers, and coordinators at this school are incredibly supportive. Choosing this school has been one of my best decisions so far. It is safe to state that this is the best school in the whole town.

Does he like going to school?

He loves going to school. He is so comfortable with the environment there that he enjoys spending time there more than at home.

Does he take part in any extracurricular activities?

Yes. He is involved closely with debate, declamations, badminton, and dance. Moreover, he is even taking coaching classes post-school hours for badminton.

What aspect of the school do you think has affected his development?

The approach of teachers and coordinators who motivate kids to take part in different activities. This way, there is holistic development of the children. The school ensures that the student has a well-developed personality – academically and personally.

How do you support his education at home?

Since Arush is my only child, I give him full attention in all aspects. I look after his studies and sports. I have made a timetable for him, helping him manage and distribute his time according to priorities.

Do you spend quality time with him? If yes, then explain how.

I try to devote every hour of my time to him. We talk, go to the park every day, play indoor games, and many more. When his father is back from work, at times we plan to go out for family dinners.

How do you equip him with values?

We don’t have a huge family, which is why there is ample time to spend together. We diligently follow the religion of Radha Soami. For the same, we make sure that Arush also attends satsangs at times to extract some religious values.

How do you manage his screen time?

Most of Arush’s time is spent at the school. Post that, we keep him busy with academics and our religious beliefs Not that we force these values onto him, but he enjoys these sessions. We try to help him extract positive vibes from wherever possible so that he can develop a positive atmosphere around him. We give him very limited time to be on the phone. I keep an eye on him about what kind of applications he operates on the phone.

What do you appreciate the most about the school?

I value the school for its excellent standards and collaborative atmosphere. They treat us like their family itself. The school not only brings out the best in each child but also nurtures their hidden talents.
