Discovering the world of design can be a transformative journey for many students. During a telephonic call with Anmolpreet’s mother, we delved into her daughter’s experience studying Bachelor of Design – Interior Designing at Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar.

The mother of the second-year student explains how Apeejay College of Fine Arts is providing Anmolpreet with hands-on learning and a friendly atmosphere to grow both personally and professionally. Read edited excerpts:

How did Anmolpreet develop an interest in designing?

She was inspired by the show “Small Budget, Big Makeover,” particularly by designers Vishakha and Muninder. After finishing high school, she decided to pursue her passion for interior designing.

Why did she select Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA) for her studies?

Anmolpreet wanted a practical learning experience so she chose ACFA over other colleges and universities. This is because Apeejay college focuses more on hands-on learning as compared to just imparting theoretical knowledge. Moreover, the welcoming atmosphere and friendly faculty are cherry on cake and we feel happy that Anmolpreet made this decision.

How has her experience been at ACFA?

ACFA’s practical teaching approach, frequent workshops, and seminars have added a lot to Anmolpreet’s skills. She’s had many practical learning chances, like during Design Week, a teacher from the Netherlands came to guide them. She worked on projects such as crafting shoes for the visually impaired. The college’s guidance extends beyond academics, helping students in securing internships and jobs.

How has ACFA contributed to her personal growth?

ACFA has boosted her confidence and skills, not just in designing but also in talking to people. She’s now working on a cool project – designing a salon, showcasing her skills in 3D sketching and furniture design. The college’s positive environment has facilitated not only academic but also extracurricular success, as seen in her recent medal wins at the sports meet.

How has the College helped with jobs and internships?

Apeejay teachers help students find internships and jobs. Anmolpreet’s friends and seniors are doing both while studying, thanks to the guidance they get.

What are her future plans?

She wants to finish her degree and then decide whether to study further or start working. Her time at ACFA is preparing her well for whatever comes next. We are hoping that with newfound skills and confidence, she’s ready to take on the challenges in the future.
