In the bustling heart of Delhi, amidst the academic corridors of Apeejay School International, Panchsheel Park, a remarkable young talent has emerged, capturing the hearts and minds of both peers and mentors alike. Meet Aahana Mathur (nine), a Primary-Years-Programme-IV student whose literary prowess is nothing short of extraordinary.

At a tender age, Aahana has already penned down six self-published books, collectively known as the Milly and Me series. The books take the reader to an adventurous journey of a beagle pup named Milly. These books, a testament to diligence and creative flair, is proof of the student’s budding talent as a writer and illustrator.

What sets Aahana apart is not just her ability to craft compelling narratives, but her unique approach to storytelling, where her intricate drawings seamlessly intertwine with the text, creating a visual experience that is both captivating and immersive.

The Milly and Me series, a labour of love for Aahana, showcases her innate ability to bring characters and stories to life through her boundless imagination. Her attention to detail is evident in every page, as she meticulously designs each book, ensuring that every element, from the storyline to the illustrations, harmoniously coexists. The young talent says, “The series borrows from my life as my mother used to narrate some stories to me. In each of those, there was a dog. Building on the same, I have come up with my own series.”

Interestingly, COVID-19 induced lockdowns came as a welcome opportunity for Aahana to explore her writing abilities. During that time, she penned down a few pages. Later on, as part of a ‘Passion Project’ from school, she furnished her passion for writing. Eventually, she collated all of these narratives to launch the books which were edited at home by her parents, Ms Shrimoyee Mathur (Entrepreneur) and Mr Gautam Mathur (Chief Data Officer at Clifford Chance Business Services).

Aahana’s literary journey is set to reach new heights as she gears up for the grand launch of her first book on September 23, 2023, right here in the Capital. It is scheduled to be held at Kunzum Books, Third floor Theatre, M- Block in Greater Kailash-II between 5-6 pm. The event promises to be a celebration of the budding writer’s exceptional talent, with an audience eagerly awaiting the unveiling of her meticulously crafted creation. Among the attendees will be Aahana’s parents, family, and friends, whose unwavering support has undoubtedly played a pivotal role in nurturing her burgeoning talent. The proceeds of the book sales will reach a non-governmental organisation based in Bengaluru.

Beyond her literary achievements, Aahana is a multifaceted talent. Alongside her writing, she has a passion for baking that has earned her widespread recognition in her school community. Known for her delectable cookie crumbles, Aahana’s culinary skills have become a source of joy and delight for those fortunate enough to sample her creations. Speaking about her upcoming project the student says, “I want to launch a no-fire cookbook for kids.”

Aahana’s journey serves as an inspiration not only to her fellow students but to individuals of all ages. Her ability to channel her creativity into tangible works of art is a testament to the limitless potential that young minds possess. Her determination, coupled with her unwavering passion for storytelling, exemplifies the power of nurturing one’s talents from an early age.

In a world that often underestimates the capabilities of young individuals, Aahana is a shining example of what can be achieved with dedication, passion, and a vivid imagination. Her Milly and Me series not only promises to be a literary delight but also a beacon of hope for aspiring writers and artists, urging them to pursue their dreams fearlessly. Sharing tips for her classmates, the talented girl says, “Start by writing every day. Ensure to work towards the spellings.”

As she prepares to take her first steps into the world of published authors, it is with eager anticipation that we await the magical tales she is yet to spin. Her journey is a reminder that age is no barrier to creativity, and that we all have the potential to create something extraordinary if we dare to dream.

So, mark your calendars for September 23, 2023, and be prepared to embark on a literary adventure with Aahana. We are sure that the world is about to witness the dawn of a new literary star, and we can’t wait to see where her boundless imagination will take us next!
