UGC Guidelines: Equal opportunities in higher education
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has released directives for Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to ensure fair opportunities for individuals belonging to Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups (SEDGs).
Aligned with the principles of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which underscores accessibility, equity, and inclusivity in higher education, these guidelines advocate for the implementation of measures to enhance educational prospects for students hailing from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The UGC strongly encourages all universities and HEIs across India to adhere to these guidelines, aiming to augment the participation of SEDG students in higher education through initiatives focused on access, equity, and inclusion.
