“As Threads soars, Twitter’s traffic takes a hit”

Meta’s new microblogging platform, Threads, has taken the social media world by storm, attracting over 100 million users within a mere two days of its launch. This unexpected surge in popularity has caused a significant impact on its long-standing rival, Twitter, leading to a notable decline in Twitter’s traffic, as reported by Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince.

It’s important to clarify the origins of Threads and dispel any rumours of rivalry between Facebook CEO and
co-founder, Mark Zuckerberg and Twitter. Threads was introduced by Meta, not Facebook, as a means for users to share text-based updates in a unique and engaging way. Twitter, on the other hand, was created by Jack Dorsey, Biz Stone, and Evan Williams back in 2006.

Meta launched Threads as a way to post text-based updates. Posts can be up to 500 characters long and include links, photos, and videos up to five minutes long. A press release stated that users can also share a Threads post to their Instagram story.

Both Twitter and Threads are popular social media platforms with a user base of approximately 10 billion. They have independent and unique features. In a recent interview, Mark Zuckerberg clearly stated that he did not launch Threads as a rival to Twitter because he is not associated with the development or management of Twitter.

Threads on Twitter were introduced by Meta to provide users with a way to share longer thoughts, narratives, or discussions that couldn’t be accommodated within the character limit of a single tweet. Threads allow for a more organised and connected format, making it easier for users to follow and engage with multi-part conversations or extended content.

Threads surpassed 30 million users in less than 24 hours after its launch. Let’s explore what attracted so many users to Threads and how it compares to Twitter:

Hence, these are some of the major points that make the new Threads app more user-friendly compared to Twitter.
