Sahil Chugh, who completed his graduation in B Tech (CSE) from Apeejay Stya University (ASU), Gurugram, started his professional journey when he was in his 3rd year of college. The first exposure to the world of job was via an internship in the android development domain. “From then till today, I continue my professional career as full time Android Developer, working with Vogo Automotive Pvt. Ltd. since October 2022,” said Sahil.

In this interview, the Apeejay alumnus explains what intrigued him to pursue this career and shares some interesting facts that he likes about android development. Read edited excerpts:

My interest in pursuing a career as an Android developer began during my coursework in computer science. The realisation struck when I took a mobile application development course, where I was introduced to the Android ecosystem, Java/Kotlin programming languages, and the intricacies of creating mobile applications.

The hands-on experience of building simple Android apps and witnessing the potential impact of mobile technology on everyday life ignited my curiosity and passion for Android development. The ability to create software that could run on billions of devices worldwide, coupled with the dynamic nature of the mobile industry, fueled my desire to specialise in this field.

Android is an open-source operating system, which means its source code is freely available to the public. Android operates on a vast array of devices, ranging from smartphones and tablets to smart TVs, wearables, and even automotive systems. Kotlin, a modern programming language developed by JetBrains, is now officially supported by Google for Android development.

Tech is updating each and every day and so, for me the crucial learnings:

Continuous Learning: The tech industry evolves rapidly, so staying updated on the latest trends and tools is crucial.
Collaboration: Working in a team and using version control systems like Git is essential.

User Experience: Understanding user needs and creating user-friendly interfaces.

Apeejay definitely contributed towards my preparation with a dynamic job market, by introducing to me various technologies through the academic courses and android was one of them. Allowing me to do an internship alongside my studies helped me expose myself to market standards much before graduating.
