When this parent was looking at schools in Greater Noida, she visited several before enrolling her in junior KG at Apeejay School, Greater Noida. What stood out was the attention given to each child at this school. “The class size was smaller, and I felt she would have the opportunity to be seen and heard. That was the main reason we chose the school,” shares Ridhu, in a candid interview, whose daughter, Dhanushwi Narang, is studying at this school.
How has your daughter adjusted to the move from kindergarten to Class I?
She settled in quite easily. She has been at this school since junior KG and has always enjoyed going to school. The teachers have been cooperative and supportive, so the move to Class I did not feel like a big change to her. Her senior KG teacher played an important role in building her confidence. I feel that gave her a strong foundation and helped her make a smooth transition to the primary section.
What changes have you noticed in her since she joined Class 1?
She has become more curious and enjoys reading. She brings books home and likes spending time with them. I have also seen a noticeable increase in her confidence. She gets opportunities to perform on stage, and those experiences have helped her express herself more freely.
How is she doing in her academics and other activities?
She loves yoga. She enjoys doing it at home as well. She is a physically active child, so it is a class she particularly looks forward to. She can understand and grasp what is taught in class. I can see that she is learning well.
How do the teachers communicate with you about her progress?
We usually discuss her progress during parent-teacher meetings. If I have a question at another time, I can send a message. The teacher may be busy during the school day, but she asks me to leave a voice message and responds when she can. I appreciate that I can reach out when I need to.
As a working parent, how do you make time for her schoolwork?
I set aside an hour in the evening, usually from eight to nine. We use that time for her homework, revision, and practice. Having that routine helps me stay involved in what she is learning.
Has she done anything recently that made you especially proud?
She participated in an inter-school dance competition at Apeejay School, Noida, and did very well. Her dance teacher told me that she had performed particularly well in her group. I was very proud of her.
What do you value most about the school?
I value the attention each child receives and the opportunities they are given. My daughter has had the chance to take part in activities beyond the classroom, and I can see how much those experiences mean to her.
