Teachers at a school should focus on building positive relationships, understanding each child’s unique needs, and adapting teaching methods accordingly. Incorporating interactive and hands-on activities can make lessons more enjoyable and effective which further encourages creativity through art and play, while also emphasising basic social skills that help in holistic development, shares Sonam Phogat whose son Jitesh Phogat is studying in class I at Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri.

Excerpts from the interview

How did you select Apeejay as an admission choice?

The main reason behind selecting this school is the environment here, I always wanted my child to go to a school with a good disciplinarian background. Second, all parents in my neighborhood and friend circle suggested and gave great reviews about this school. Even Google had the best reviews for Apeejay in this city.

How are the teachers here?

The teachers here are fantastic and there has not been a single time I have faced any issue with any teacher. They have extended their unconditional support towards my son leaving me assured. I have so far never received a single complaint regarding my son. He has been studying here since nursery.

What are the best techniques used by teachers?

So many! The teachers use techniques like games and activities that will help my son cope and learn so many new things. They never believed in burdening my child but have made learning and studying a fun thing for him.

What positive changes have you seen in your son?

My son is now six years old and there is a vast change in his personality, for which I give credit to the school. It’s unbelievable but my son now knows — all the alphabet, poems, and numbers till 20 by heart. So this is the kind of impact Apeejay has over my son’s growth.

How is the balance between extracurricular activities and studies here?

My son enjoys extracurricular activities like music and other EVS events like tree plantation and nature walks. He also loves festival celebrations at the school. The school provides ample opportunities for the students to participate in various activities.

Do you believe in the adage – that school is the second home for a child?

My son has always felt at home at the school. I have been observing so many different changes in his behaviour and personality owing to school. The school has a perfect mix of a homely environment along with the required academic decorum. My son wakes up and gets ready for school on his own without throwing tantrums.

What is your dream for your son?

I want my son to become a successful businessman. He can choose any sector of his liking to start and expand his business. Other than that I want my son to be a good human being, one who believes in culture, has admirable social skills, and should speak well.

How often do you interact with your son about school?

He is always excited to share all the lessons he has studied at the school. I remember once he was so thrilled about sharing the spelling of ‘aeroplane’ and ‘helicopter’ that he was jumping with joy. I keep a check on his progress daily and if I am not around then my husband will do so.
